Prior to Mass
Communion
Bishop John Quinn re-instated the obligation to attend Sunday Mass beginning on July 1, 2021.
In accord with the Catechism of the Catholic Church (cf. CCC 2181) all the usual factors which may excuse a member of the faithful from attending Mass on days of obligation remain in place. Namely, among other considerations, those who are ordinarily excused from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass include: the sick, their caretakers, and anyone with serious health concerns which necessitates avoiding large public gatherings. Many who volunteered for us pre-Covid are in the age group that is most vulnerable.
If you are able, please consider helping in these areas:
Prayer when you cannot be at church to receive the Eucharist.
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
