  • Jubilee Year of Hope

On December 25, 2024, Pope Francis opened the Jubilee Year of Hope. A jubilee year is celebrated every 25 years. Throughout this year, we are called to embrace the phrase ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. During this jubilee year, his Holiness Pope Francis has granted an indulgence to those visiting the Co-Cathedral of St. John's in Rochester or the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona.

    Jubilee Year of Hope PDF

The Jubilee indulgence, thanks to the power of prayer, can be applied for oneself or for a deceased person.

How to obtain an indulgence this Jubilee Year:
    1. Spend some suitable time of prayer and meditation at the Co-Cathedral or Cathedral in front of the Blessed Sacrament, present in the Tabernacle.
    2. Be truly repentant and free from any affection for sin.
    3. Receive the sacrament of penance (in any church, a few days before or after the day you look to obtain this indulgence).
    4. Receive Holy Communion.
    5. Pray for the intentions of the Pope.
    6. Pray the Our Father, the Creed, and invocations to Mary, the Mother of God, so that in this Holy Year everyone will come to know the closeness of Mary, the most affectionate of mothers, who never abandons her children.
